Women in Urban Mobility

A series of training sessions and workshops for women professionals interested in improving the conditions, efficiency and policies of urban mobility.

The format allows participants to exchange good practices with peers, develop new solutions and shape mobility initiatives for their own cities – initiatives that can be delivered with the support of business and institutions.

The programme was developed by Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC School), UnternehmerTUM, CARNET and JA Bulgaria with the support of EIT Urban Mobility. It has run in Barcelona, Munich and Sofia; the Sofia edition is organised by JA Bulgaria and The Edge.

01 · Core concept

Women use the city in different ways.

They often face different challenges – from safety and accessibility to combining work, childcare and daily travel. Yet their experience is rarely present enough when urban services and solutions are designed.

At the same time, the share of women in the professions that shape those solutions – transport engineering, urban planning, public transport management – remains limited, especially at leadership level.

The programme brings together women from different professional fields to explore these problems and develop solutions for them.

Women in Urban Mobility addresses both issues.

It provides professional qualification for women in the sector and turns their experience into concrete urban mobility solutions.
